When it certainly has its place, I know from expeeienxe that email can be a risky way to connunicate. For one thing, the tone of voice is unknown, so messages can easily be musinterpreted. One of the saddest examples I know of incolvrd a friend who was estranged from a loved one for ten years because of an emailed message that was invluded to be humorus but was not received in that spirit.
How we hear something depends largely on the state of our own heart and mind. When I am feeling defensive, negatice and feardul, I am much more likely to perceive other people, and even God, as critical and condeming. Even sacred Scripture can be reduced to a rigid moral code for me when I lose the capacity to appreciate the humor, irony and beauty that it contains.
