Garmin may not be the first brand to come to mind when thinking about Apple Watch alternatives at reasonable price points, but according to a recent market report, the US-based company is ranked pretty high among the world’s top smartwatch vendors.
Of course, wearable devices like the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music can’t really hope to compete with the mainstream popularity of the Apple Watch lineup anytime soon, instead taking on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active or Fitbit Versa. And since the two mid-range rivals are currently available for $180 and $210 respectively from their manufacturers’ official US e-stores, we probably shouldn’t act too shocked to see the Vivoactive 3 Music marked down to $199.99.
The discounted price is valid pretty much everywhere around the nation, from the Garmin website to Best Buy and Amazon, dropping from $249.99 or $279.99, depending on who you ask. Regardless of exactly how much money you stand to save here, this bad boy definitely offers plenty of bang for your 200 bucks. We’re talking everything from a built-in heart rate monitor to standalone GPS functionality, wrist payment support, and in case the name didn’t make it abundantly clear, on-device music storage.
Unfortunately, you can’t technically stream your tunes using the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music, instead having to rely on downloads from a few popular compatible services, including Spotify and Deezer. That’s still pretty sweet considering the marked-down price tag, not to mention other cool stuff you’re getting here, from a bunch of state-of-the-art fitness tracking features to a stellar battery life of up to 7 days between charges, full-on swim protection, and a reasonably sharp 1.2-inch display with 240 x 240 pixel resolution.
