How Anthony Crilly Discovers Himself through Running.
His levels of procrastination before he runs can be legendary and when Anthony Crilly finally makes it out the door, he is already telling himself that he will turn around at the bottom of the road and head home. How does Anthony Crilly discover himself through running?
After he has been running for about twenty minutes, it is like someone has pressed a switch in his head. He actually starts to enjoy it and finds that he can think clearer about things that are making him stressed. It helps him to plan out his day better. He can harness result-oriented goals and behavior.

When he made it back home one day, sweating and feeling a sense of achievement, his counsel Dick suggested he should join a local running club.
He could see that running with other people would really help motivate him. Anthony Crilly had always been put off with running clubs thinking they would be full of ultra competitive runners. Well, come to find out. It was exactly what he needed. Not only did he run on-his-own for two years, now he has taken running to a whole new level of commitment.
He told Dick that he enjoyed running on his own. Deep down he knew that a running club was probably the only way he would be able to take his running to the next level. Getting better times and beating his personal record or petsonal best, becoming faster, and elite in his age group was shat Anthony Crilly wanted.
Anthony Crilly Runs To Better Times
After he ran an annual of 10 5k’s over the last two years, he started to come across a new breed of running groups. They have names like Road Kill, Rochester Track Club, Rochester Running Club, MedVed Running, Fleet Feet Sports, Checkers, High Noon, and Genesee Valley Harriers.
What they all have in common is their truly inspirational founders. Their unwavering commitment to supporting others through the power of running.

He recently ran with Genesee Valley Harriers which is a running crew created by and for people who enjoy running. They strive to compete and want to get better at it. Update: as of September 1 Anthony Crilly is officially a Genesee Valley Harrier. Even before he placed his first step he could feel the sense of support and community within the group.
Genesee Valley Harriers is a running group based in Rochester, New York started in 1996 by a number of gentlemen who loved running. One particular who has been inspiring is Coach Mike Reif.
Though retired, during the day he is owner operator of a T-shirt business called Innovative Edge Sports. Then two times a week he is running along the streets and Parks of Rochester, NY with premier, elite, and aspiring runners.
Coach Mike Reif, who is an experienced long-distance runner, set up the club to give its members a sense of purpose and pride.
If a club member continues run training she/he will be able to join local, regional, national events to compete with some of the best runners in the nation becoming the best in their age groups.
Genesee Valley Harriers is now one of the premier, elite running groups in The Greater Rochester, NY Area and one of the best if not the best running clubs with some of the best runners in the nation.
Anthony Crilly certainly reflected on what he perceived to be the value of running in his own life. He thought if he could share with others, learn from people who all have different experiences, that it would be helpful for him to rebuild his own life and focus on the future and not the past. The reward is commensurable with the commitment that he makes.
‘Not only do you learn about running from the people that you’re running with but you understand that they care and learn from you as well. And that relationship is most gratifying.
‘Come rain, shine, feeling good, not feeling good, they’re going to see me. And that type of commitment sends a very powerful message.’
Coach Mike Reif of Genesee Valley Harriers is one of the runners, Coach Mike, is a great teacher who is inspiring and challenging to help you grow and be the best runner you can be.
Genesee Valley Harriers is a truly a supportive and inspiring running club and just like other running groups at the heart of it is a sense of friendship built through the philosophy that everyone should be given an opportunity in life to reach their dreams through team work and effort.
